Well, I see this ad more than once and I can't help looking at it cos its just so right at your face. You can't miss it. Well, what does it say? Why does it capture my attention? The ad stands on King's Road in a busy surrounding and it claims to offer a U.S. degree locally in HK. Isn't it quite amazing? You can get a U.S. degree without actually having to attend there! Life in HK, but a bachelor degree from the U.S..... You are really getting the best of both worlds, aren't you?

The ad itself is also very entertaining. First, it is next to a somewhat funny ad of the "Hotel of Peace" (和平飯店) with Mona Lisa holding a barbeque duck (燒鵝). The image itself is a piece of art, let alone the message it conveys.

What's more amusing is that, next to this ad of Mona Lisa holding a barbeque duck stands an ad of Upper Iowa University which has nothing to do with anything above or below. Why did they put that ad up there on King's Road? Why Upper Iowa University? Why does it say a U.S. degree earned in Hong Kong? And why the hell they have that ad up there next to Mona Lisa holding a 燒鵝? No idea but the justaposition up there really caught my attention.

Anyways, the idea of the ad is to let you know that you can earn a degree from a prestigious university like Upper Iowa without having to be physically there. So for any of you thinking about getting a foreign degree and like Hong Kong city so much that you don't want to leave 852, Upper Iowa is a good choice for you. Apparently they are offering good humanities degrees like psychology. Also, there are no minorities at all at Upper Iowa. No black, no Jews, no Latinoes, only white people, and not even Asians. Well, sounds very appealing to those who walk by this ad every single day. Guess whom this ad is targeting.........
